Cesar’s Bark Canoe

This hour long documentary shows a 67-year-old Attikmek Indian named Cesar Newashish building a birch bark canoe the old fashioned way. He uses only birch bark, spruce roots, cedar splints and gum. Not a lot of talking, just a man building a boat – you may not be able to build your own after one viewing, but you’ll be on you way to understand how much time an labor goes into something like this.
